Victoria + Albert’s guide to cottagecore bathroom design

From cottagecore to rustic fashion, cottage bathroom interiors are the design style of 2021.

Harmoniously integrating traditional chalet elements with modern design features, this nostalgic style evokes sentimental comfort in a modern abode.

Emma Joyce of Victoria + Albert gives some design tips for a cottage style bathroom: “Designing a cottage is all about bringing vintage elements into the space through a modern lens. So start with a characteristic wallpaper that, for example, brings a regency flocked design up to date, such as those from House of Hackney or Graham & Brown.

“Choose main elements, such as a freestanding tub and sink, which can be reinterpreted using new colors and finishes. Draped fabrics, framed prints, and traditional soaps should add a neatly organized clutter. Above all, the goal is to create warmth, comfort and a deep sense of belonging.

Victoria + Albert is known for its chic and sculptural contemporary tubs, but it also produces a beautiful line inspired by Victorian and Edwardian cast iron tubs, with traditional claw feet. Made from Victoria + Albert’s unique composite material, Quarrycast, which is light, strong and warm to the touch, they can be specified in any of 199 RAL exterior colors, gloss or matt.

The Victoria + Albert collection of washbasins, like the Metallo 100, is also perfect for the Cottagecore look. Sleek and refined, with the benefit of a beautiful Quarrycast composite basin that won’t chip or crack.
