Take a look at this Dallas home on Deloache Avenue that was once a designer show home

One of the questions readers may ask when seeing photos of a decorator-designed show home like the one we featured last September is how it will work for the next owner. This house located at 5138 Deloache Avenue was used last year for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. The show home was part of a fundraising event that brings together top interior designers, decorators and landscapers to transform a luxury home. Visitors were able to purchase tickets to tour the house and proceeds were donated to charities.

After viewings ended in the fall, that home underwent a three-month overhaul, said listing agent Alex Perry of Allie Beth Allman & Associates. The home was updated before the designers arrived with new windows, HVAC, and lighting throughout. Perry said the most recent redesign retained some elements of the designers’ work, but many spaces were updated to make the home’s overall aesthetic more adaptable to future owners.

The home has six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half bathrooms in its 11,185 square feet. The home sits on 1.45 acres and has a large backyard and swimming pool. Perry said the vendors purchased and saved much of the exterior landscaping materials and furniture and maintained them since the show home was completed.

“The land, the way it’s laid out, is special,” Perry said. “There is room to always do more for the property because of this. It lends itself to someone to go there and put their taste in it too.

The lobby of the house has a large botanical-looking chandelier and a checkerboard floor. The dining room is to the right of the fireplace and is bathed in natural light. It has easy access to the kitchen through a small hallway. The kitchen has olive green cabinets, a large island and a long counter with a sink that overlooks the back of the property. There is a second dining room located next to the kitchen with a view of the garden. A powder room is nearby, adjacent to the staircase that leads to the basement.

“We tried to buy what we could from the designers, to show them our support as well,” Perry said.

The home’s formal living room is a large, bright space with a fireplace at one end and detailed picture frame moldings on the walls and crown molding along the ceiling. An office and additional living space are adjacent to the living room. The smaller living space has a set of French doors that provide access to a patio in the back yard. A family room, a second office, a laundry room and a bathroom also sit on the first level. There is an additional bathroom easily accessible from the back patio.

The master suite is on the second level of the home and features a fireplace, detailed crown moldings and a built-in library. The master bathroom is full of natural light, has a walk-in shower, freestanding tub, and dual sinks. The closet is expansive, with a bench that provides seating and built-in bookcases that provide storage.

The remaining five bedrooms each have a private bathroom. Four of these bedrooms are located on the second level and one bedroom is on the first level of the house.

The basement of the house offers more entertaining areas, one of which has a full kitchen. There is also a wine cellar, theatre, powder room and additional living space.

Outside, the house has a swimming pool, open green spaces, a five-car garage, a games room and separate guest bedrooms, according to the listing.

The house is on the market for $10,995,000.
