A staggering 76% of college students surveyed admitted to not cleaning the bathroom at least once a week, and non-students are likely guilty of doing the same once in a while. No matter how time-bound you are, you should always find time to clean your bathroom to kill bacteria and viruses in the toilet, shower, sink, and elsewhere. Express.co.uk spoke to Dr Deborah Lee of online pharmacy Dr Fox to find out how you can easily clean your bathroom in less than half an hour – so no more excuses!
According to a survey by DBS Bathrooms, Britons clean their bathrooms 2.5 times a week on average.
However, 28% said they only cleaned the bathroom when it started to look dirty and 21% admitted to only cleaning it when they were expecting guests!
You need to clean your bathroom regularly, no matter how clean it “looks”.
Dr Lee said: ‘Toilets are a major source of infection outbreaks. Numerous studies have linked infected toilets and shared bathrooms to outbreaks of infections such as norovirus, hepatitis A, shigella, and salmonella.
“Infected vomit and feces contain billions of bacteria and viruses, all of which can live for long periods of time in the toilet bowl and can create a biofilm, providing a reservoir of infection.
“Toilet flushing can cause a plume of infectious organisms to form on faucets and in sinks.”
The toilets are usually cleaned 3.47 times a week on average, followed by the shower, bath, sink and taps which are cleaned two to three times a week by most people, but a major cleaning once a week. week is enough.
Cleaning the room from top to bottom normally takes around 45 minutes… but if you’re feeling really lazy, you can do it in less than 30. Here’s how.

How to Clean Your Bathroom in Under 30 Minutes
Clean your shower while you condition your hair
A simple way to save time cleaning your bathroom is to clean your shower while you condition or use a hair mask on your hair.
Hair masks should generally be left on for at least 10 minutes, giving you time to clean up any shampoo or shower gel spills from your shower before rinsing your hair again.
Use the full 10 minutes to do as much as you can in the bathroom…what else would you do during that waiting time? Probably nothing!
Baking soda and vinegar will clean your tub, toilet, and sink
The more cleaning products you use, the longer it will take to clean your bathroom. Keep it simple!
Create a solution of equal parts baking soda, vinegar, and hot water to clean your tub, toilet, and sink, solving three tasks in one!
Let the mixture sit on the surfaces for at least 10 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly.
Set daily tasks to stay on top
We all need a boost to remember chores and errands, otherwise they probably wouldn’t get done.
It’s a good idea to create a list of quick but essential daily tasks that will keep the mess from building up in your bathroom throughout the week.
This includes quickly cleaning your sink and toilet, rinsing out your toothbrush holder, changing your bathroom trash can, and checking to see if your toilet paper and soap need restocking.
Use shaving cream to remove stains from shower glass and bath mat
Stains like fake tan on your shower glass and bath mat can be a nightmare to remove, especially if it’s not just a simple stain.
However, did you know that shaving cream is an excellent stain remover? Yeah! Shaving cream is a sacred product for many.
Let it sit for 15 minutes before wiping it off and the stains should be gone.

Create a rotation for a shared bathroom
Rotations are not only beneficial for students; you can set up a home rotation to get everyone involved in cleaning the bathroom.
It’s a great way to avoid one person doing all the work or tasks being repeated unnecessarily.
The rotation should include what needs to be cleaned, who will clean each thing, how often it needs to be cleaned, and what days they will do the cleaning.
