Text description provided by the architects. House 427 was built on the existing footprint of the old house which has a fond memory of the family. MAIN COURSE demanded respect and remembered the precious memory by using a clay cladding for the facade of the floating mass that recalled the meaning of the place where they lived.

Specially mixed clay at 1220 degrees Celsius collaborated with Mo Jirachaisakul who is an expert in clay and glass. It was designed for use throughout the interior and exterior, from the roof to the bathroom. Therefore, it must be both durable and pleasant to the touch.

The owner has collected many old works of art, vases, chests and sculptures related to the family’s history. These works of art were exhibited in all the rooms of the old house. MAIN COURSE aimed to rethink the presentation of these treasures, transforming the rooms of the central core of the house into a “floating gallery” using 6 columns with the lattice structure floating above the terrace and the greenery. Collections could be enjoyed from every major area of the home, creating a unique experience for homeowners and welcoming guests upon entry. The high ceiling void above the floating gallery and the greenery below can create an outdoor gallery atmosphere and be used as a backdrop to emphasize the white walls for paintings. Natural light is allowed to shine on the works of art and harmonize the general atmosphere of the living and working space.

Throughout the design, the material palette of this home reflected in the client’s fashion style which is unique, fashionable and colorful. The juxtaposition of old furniture and new furniture brings together the history of the family and the personality of the owner.
